2018
IAG is the parent company of a general insurance group underwriting over $11 billion of premiums per annum, including through NRMA, CGU & Swann Insurance. In order to accommodate its team IAG undertook a 35,000sqm fitout over nineteen-floors in Tower 2 Darling Park, completed with Hassell architects. The IAG project was the largest fitout of an existing Sydney building undertaken in the 2017-2018 financial year and included inter-connecting spaces over 15 levels, open plan agile working spaces, meeting rooms, collaborative spaces, client floors and a commercial kitchen. New services were installed throughout and new amenities were provided on all levels.
The project was awarded the MBA Best Refurbishment ($25M+) in 2018.
Our Scope
Marshall Day's scope included:
- Speech privacy between spaces
- Reverberation time
- Mechanical services noise control
- Design for Green Star Acoustic credits

Challenges
Particular challenges were faced on the client floors, where sensitive meetings take place and the perception of acoustic privacy is critical to ensure open negotiations. Marshall Day started very early in the project to assist the client to first translate their desire for different levels of privacy throughout the building into definable acoustic targets. We then worked collaboratively with Hassell and the rest of the design team in order to seamlessly integrate the acoustics into the architectural design. We stayed with the project through construction, assisting the builder to resolve the surprises inevitable when undertaking a refit on this scale.
